| Introduction | I was able to take a sabbatical from my nursing job to spend October 2012 through May 2013 in the Backcountry at the Diamond D Ranch as one of the winter caretakers. I have been helping out on the Ranch for almost 5 years now, but have not spent an entire winter/spring season here until now.
