| Introduction | I was born in rural Clay Township, Scioto County, Ohio: graduating in 1966 from Clay Local High School, I first went north at age 18 on Route 23 and hired out on the N&W Railway (now NS), at Bellevue, Ohio, as a Brakeman on the Cleveland District on the NKP RR; staying there for 24 years. I worked as an Investigator for a Rail Labor Law firm for ten years. I went back to school and completed my Bachelors in 2002 and my Masters in American Culture Studies I was an Adjunct Professor at BGSU Firelands from 2003 to 2010 During the Vietnam War, I served four years in the Navy Seabees. I returned home in 1972, met Annie Schaffer of Norwalk, my wife, best friend and favorite critic of 38 years, have three children; Six grandchildren. I was first involved in politics after returning home from the service, with the local Huron County Democratic Party campaign for George McGovern, the first of many local campaigns. I was Chair of the Huron County Democratic Party 1994-2001. I was also a member of the Huron County Board of Elections 1992-2004. I entered retirement on July 31st, 2010. |
