| Introduction | I was appointed to the Senate of Canada in January 2009 by Her Excellency Michaelle Jean upon the advice of Prime Minister Stephen Harper. I was previously the National Chief of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples where I advocated for greater accountability, transparency and responsibility in Canada's Aboriginal Affairs. I spoke in favour of the elimination of the Indian Act and for greater certainty as to where Aboriginal funding is going. |
