IntroductionRedemption is calling! As we listen, we hear a calling to BE the church. We learn to become who we were created to be- as participants in God's story for the redemption of creation. As an ordained elder, in the Church of the Nazarene, I am called to help point us toward who we can be as the people of God and encourage us to be the Kingdom with creativity and imagination to a world suffering from injustice, pain, and violence. I care about people trapped in poverty, disasters, and trauma so much- my messages & writing are not simply hollow ideas or even empty ideals to me- but actual people whom I know personally, and with whom I find myself laughing and crying alongside.
InterestsEthics, Social Justice, Being Imaginative, Compassionate Ministries, Ontology, St. Thomas Aquinas, Writing, and my adorable son.
Favorite moviesHotel Rwanda, Blood Diamond, Romano, Dogma, Saved, Christmas Vacation, Sydney White, and so many more.
Favorite musicJeremy Camp, Jason Mraz, Switchfoot, Casting Crowns, and many more I cannot admit but I have no problem singing them in my car when its just Jayden and I.
Favorite booksSex God by Rob Bell. Jesus for President by Shane Claiborne. Philosophy of Religion (edited by Tom Oord) and Relational Holiness (by Oord and Lodahl). They are really good books even though I might be partial because my name is in the front for helping Oord with a student edit and review. Anything by Stanley Hauerwas (especially A Community of Character. I live by this book), Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger (Sider), Economic Justice for All (the Pastoral Letter on Catholic Social Teaching), Liberation of Theology (Segundo), En La Lucha (Isasi-Diaz).
