| Introduction | I was born and raised in the Bay Area of northern California. As a youth, I played soccer and my love for the game continues to this day. Also, in my youth I took 2 years piano lessons and I have loved playing and listening to music ever since. From playing the piano, I moved to playing the bass guitar, the lead guitar, and later the drums (in 2006).
I learned to play chess in about 1973 as a result of the chess "hype" that swept across the USA after Bobby Fischer won the World Chess Championship in 1972. However, I did not become serious about the game until I had finished High School. I attended and graduated from San Jose State University in 1996 with a BA in Civil Engineering, and received my professional Civil Engineering license (PE) in July 2000. I have always enjoyed writing. Between 2000 and 2006, a family member and I exchanged a series of very long religious "letters," and I personally wrote about 1,500 pages during that time. Since 2006 I have been writing fiction, must of it lack luster. In 2010, I realized how to dramatically improve my fiction writing. |
