| Introduction | Harry Van Belle is a psychologist with a PhD degree in clinical psychology from the Free University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He has been a university professor, a practicing therapist, a workshop leader and a popular lecturer for more than 40 years. He has written extensively about topics related to stages of life, psychological development and psychotherapy. His career includes a stint as a supervisor of the psychology department in a psychiatric hospital, as the primary therapist of a counseling agency and as a professor of psychology in two Canadian university colleges.
