Introduction Food is a blessing and a curse. It comforts, it coaxes but it bites and after the childhood years of eating food for fun we use food as a crutch and it's payback...or a fat back. Equally depressing. Thing is diets are dumb and there are few things more soul destroying than calorie counting, low fat dairy or 'portion control'. If you can't eat for pleasure, what is the point of living? Even if you eat for health or you suffer from allergies, food is to be enjoyed. There's something tragically elemental about denying your body and brain the thing it craves. It's sad and soulless. Get creative. If you want the tart, make it yourself without the pastry base and reduce the sugar. I have a brilliant recipe for a no pasta lasagne, omitting the carbs and fatty beef and replacing them with courgette slices and turkey mince so that I can still enjoy the cheesy bechemel..and more importantly 2 or 3 portions if I feel like it. Chocolate can be eaten in abundance too if it's dark with a high cocoa content. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am living proof that, that is fact. God I'm hungry....
