Favorite booksFavorite books and authors are: first and foremost Author, James Michener. His books offer so much I wrote him a fan letter and he even wrote a thank you letter back to me. His letter is one of my prized possessions. His books are interesting, heartwarming, epic and educational. He was such a decent man. If you've never read any of his books start with "The Source”. Recent favorite authors are: Alexander McCall Smith's charming series about the woman who owns The Ladies #1 Detective Agency in Botswana. Also enjoyed:A Name of Her OWn by Jane Kirkpatrick, Night by Elie Weisel, Point to Point Navigation by Gore Vidal, Wait Till Next Year by Doris Kearns Goodwin, A year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion, Kite Runner, Angela's Ashes, 'Tis and Teacher Man both written by Frank McCourt. Sigrid Undset, Norwegian author and Nobel Prize winner wrote a series of novels that are so important for girls and young women to read. They are: The Bridal Wreath, The Mistress of Husaby, and The Cross. I love the advice and wit of Miss Manners , Free To Choose by Milton Freedman, The Book of Virtues by William J. Bennett, The Bookseller of Kabul, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (Written in 1950’s and updated is eerily wonderful).Other Fav authors that always write great things are Amy Tan and Barbara Kingsolver.
