| Introduction | Sukari Harris, a Los Angeles native, is a wearer of many hats. As a wife and mother of four, being an only child, she has surrounded herself with children most of her adult life. Books and reading having always been an important part of Sukari's life, she decided to finally do something with the files of information and documentation regarding her maternal grandmother's genealogy. "For the last ten years my passion has been genealogy, not just my family's history but anyone's family history fascinates me. The trekking through cemeteries in remote area; talking to strangers and the long hours at libraries and back rooms of court houses is so exciting. Being able to combine my two loves-books & genealogy- fills me with an adrenaline much like that of a race car driver". As a result, Mama's Gonna Kick Up Her Heels!, was born. Mama's Gonna Kick Up Her Heels! Is a children's book of historical fiction referencing a small but no less notable time in the lives of the Jackson family of Choctaw County, Alabama. The book is scheduled to be released in 2009. She has already begun working on her next book. |
