Introduction I come from a culture of cultivation. The blood in my veins is filled in equal parts with soil. My feet, the taproots. As a sixth generation central Whidbey Island native, I am part of an agrarian legacy and there is a story I wish to tell. It is a story of place. Of the geography of love for landscape and how it shapes identity. It is a story of people. Of those who I love who came before me, and of those still with me. Of their imparted wisdom, the guides which precede my passion and purpose. It is a story of past. Of bringing back a time of hard work and independence, where hands were callused, muscles ached, and imaginations thrived. It is a story of future. Of molding joy in my existence as I struggle, yet persevere, to be at peace with the unknown. It is a story of each moment. To lead a life of creativity. To dig deep in the dirt. To honor my ancestry, and to always seek out the wildness in things. This is a story of one country woman’s wild pursuits on the urban fringe.
