Gender Male
Occupation Intern Pastor at New Hope Church (Bangor, Maine)
Location Bangor, ME, United States
Introduction My two initial career goals in life were to be a geologist or carpenter. But then reality hit: I found that geology didn’t simply mean freelance rock collecting; and a carpenter working on our home decisively told me I didn’t want to work construction. Then in my early teens, my pastor suggested I consider being a pastor. I’d been meeting with him to discuss the Bible (having long barraged him and my ever-patient parents with all kinds of questions of faith), and I believe that in these times God was equipping me to walk alongside others with similar questions. Even though I was terrified of public speaking, my pastor’s words stuck with me. And over a long period with plenty of ups and downs, God continued to confirm this calling in my life. Now as pastor at New Hope Church, I am deeply grateful to be able to serve in this way. All Christians are called to serve as “ministers of reconciliation,” and I have the privilege of doing so as a pastor: pointing people to the reconciling work of God in Jesus. And even though I never ended up as geologist or carpenter, I still love collecting rocks and enjoy woodworking projects in my spare time. Perhaps the best of both worlds!
