Introduction	In 1976, Candi and I bought our first new car together. It was a Glen Yellow Renault 5TL with Chipper Orange strobe stripes down the sides. On Veterans Day, 1976, Candi and I were both off from work. It was a cloudy day and we had nothing to do. I was looking at the sales brochure of our new car. On pages 5-6, there was a photograph showing two Renault 5s, nose to nose in front of the Ancramdale General Store, in (where else?) Ancramdale, NY. We took out our trusty Mobil Gas New York roadmap and found that Ancramdale was a short 129 miles from our home in Queens, NY. Off we went on our daylong adventure. When we arrived we found the Ancramdale General Store totally closed and out of business. We parked our little yellow car with the orange strobe racing stripes in front of the shuttered business and took its picture. While we didn't realize it at the time, we began a life long obsession. Through the years, we've taken every car we've ever owned together to Ancramdale for its portrait. At the urging of some of our friends and relatives, we've decided to write a journal to record our trips together with the cars we love.
