Introduction | A traveller at heart, I am in the process of leaving Asian shores after three amazing years in Thailand. African sunshine awaiting me - for the time being - in preparation for the next adventure. Yes, these boots were made for walking - upon new shores but also from one cognitive adventure to the next. I don't call it middle age, I call it 'youth, the sequel.' In practice, I am a 50-year young South African mother of two; environmental/technical/(and lately)humanitarian writer; with an adverturous spirit, and open mind, strong Christian faith and appreciation for the little things in life (because one day I may look back and realise they were the big things). *("These boots were made for walking", the title of a 1960s hit by Nancy Sinatra. Interests | A real hodgepodge, including calligraphy, environmental affairs, music, popular science, world affairs (as armchair authority), sport (an even better armchair authority), humanitarian issues, wine and coffee (yes, I am a sommelier-and barista wannebe - in that order). And a few more. |
Favorite Movies | For now (until I remember the rest), I'll stick with "Girl with the pearl earring", "Crouching tiger, hidden dragon", "Jungle book", "Women without men" and all Meryl Streep and Sean Penn movies! |
Favorite Music | The list is very long, but the top places would certainly go to (in no particular order and depending on my mood at the time): Stef Bos, Chopin's piano magic, Jack Johnson, Adele, Queen and the Beach Boys (have to act my age!), Phil Collins and Acastella (the creative bunch at the University of Stellenbosch). |
Favorite Books | The allocated space is not enough, but let's try: Authors: Frederick Forsyth, Alex's adventures in Numberland, (still thinking...). Books that come to mind: Poisonwood Bible, Girl with the pearl earring, Mister Pip, Thousand splendid suns |
Radio wire is often used to make bird nests. What station do they listen to?
Huh?
