| Introduction | Socrates is a role model of mine. I try to be an open-minded person but I have strong beliefs (not opinions) on many subjects. I will argue discuss politics or religion with anyone who will put up with me. I try to find all the available information before forming an opinion, and will continue to seek information in order to validate my belief. I try to fill my mind with as much information and knowledge as possible by reading whatever I can on any subject that won’t bore me to tears. I try to look at both sides of an issue. I believe that “the mark of an intelligent minds is the ability to entertain an idea without embracing it.” Not only will I debate with people sharing a differing point of view, but I will oftentimes play the devil’s advocate, arguing for the opposing in order to make people think, and to encourage them to put their own ideas and beliefs to the test. |
| Interests | I am Roman Catholic and am a member of St. William Catholic Church on St. Simons Island. For me, my faith has always been the most important part of my life. Every day I am trying to learn more about or find a better way to live it more fully. I am a history major mainly because of my faith, because I believe that Western Civilization is built on the foundation of the truth of Christianity and that, to a great extent, history is “His story” that is: a chronicle of the everlasting effect of the life and death of the historical person of Jesus Christ on mankind, centered around His people, the Jews, and the Catholic Church, which He founded. |
