Introduction	We live in a funky old house that started life as the store for Florecita Farm, high in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Altadena. Our back garden overlooks Millard Canyon. Centuries-old Coast Live Oaks send acorns falling by the millions in the autumn, rattling as they roll down and off the red tile roof. Our household is ruled by sister overlords Orange Roughy and Sardine, aka Ruffy and Deenie.
