| Introduction | I am in my third year of college studying Child Education to become a K-6th grade teacher. I attended UTSA for two years and am now at ACC working to transfer into Texas States College of Education. I currently work at the YMCA afterschool program for an elementary school. Politics and government are my weak points in which I am not very knowledgeable. According the typology test I am "upbeat" meaning I express positive views about the economy, government and society, and am satisfied with the direction the nation is heading. However, I prefer not to be categorized. In the 2008 presidential election, I did not participate. It did interest me, though, when Obama was elected because I favor when situations are changed and can be put down in the history of American politics. I am simply taking this class because it is required. On the civics and current events quiz, I performed just how I suspected. Let's just say I knew who the new American Idol Judge was and nothing about the people who are new to the government. From this class, I greatly hope to become more informed on the government in which I live. |
