Introduction	I am a non-traditional medical school student who will be starting at Des Moines University, Iowa, in the fall of 2011. The past three years, I have worked at a hospital system in Oregon in the laboratory. I cannot count the ways that my colleagues have helped direct me to this path. Before I decided on applying for osteopathic medical school, I have considered many other fields and paths, most in the field of medicine. Just to give you a background, these range from veterinary medicine to ecology to nursing (I got accepted to a nursing program the day after I decided to do the med-school route!) and pharmacy to name a few. Considering all of these has made me more than sure that I am beginning on the right path for me. I look forward to fulfilling my dreams as a doctor. My dream #1 has already come true, I got accepted into school, now for the hard part of getting through!
