Occupation Recycling Plant Manager/Construction
Introduction I grew up in rural New England and learned to appreciate the natural world. I served in the U. S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. Later, I operated excavation equipment, worked on a tunnel project, a landfill, and in construction. I entered recycling as plant manager of the first modern Materials Recovery Facility (Groton,CT) for Resource Recovery Systems. I managed the construction of a public-private dual- stream MRF (Athens, GA). As a recycling plant manager (Casella Waste Systems-11 years), I managed the construction/conversion of a single-stream MRF from an existing dual-stream plant in VT. I have managed a Dallas MRF for Alllied Waste. This blog is for people who want to see recycling remain a viable business. With over 15-years of experience building and running MRFs, I will share practical information, tips, and news about recycling issues from my unique viewpoint. I hold an A. S. degree, (Major: Hazardous Materials Technology); safety is a priority with me. I will suggest better shopping choices we can all make (precycling) to reduce waste.
