| Introduction | I'm the guide to continuing education at About.com, part of The New York Times Company. My site is dedicated to non-traditional students, adults returning to school for any reason, a GED, degree, advanced degree, professional certificate, personal enrichment, anything. |
| Interests | Writing, reading, gardening, walking, yoga, art deco, photography, cooking. |
| Favorite movies | Spirited Away is amazing. I like movies about writers. Can't think on any of them now, but I almost always like them. I even went to Stephen King's new movie, 1408, and I NEVER go to horror movies. I loved it. It's about a writer. Dr. Strangelove is very funny. |
| Favorite music | I'm learning, very slowly, to play the bongos! I'm also being introduced to the blues, which I never heard in Minneapolis. I know they have it there, but I lived a pretty whitebread life. That's changing. Solomon Burke, John Mayer, Leela James, Kenny Wayne, Stevie Ray Vaughn---all very cool. |
| Favorite books | The Artemis Fowl Series and Half Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer. His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. The Tiffany Aching series by Terry Pratchett. Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling. I seem to love British authors the most. Three Junes by Julia Glass. Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson. Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner. The Writer's Journey by Christopher Vogler is my most-revered writing book. Thanks Chris! |
