IntroductionI became sick after a visit to Virginia a little over 2 years ago. I used to be very active - lots of hiking all the time, (up to 4 miles a DAY!) and suddenly I couldn't get out of bed from the severe fatigue. All my symptoms appeared suddenly following a week long "flu". Since January of 2010, I've developed terrible joint pains, muscle pain and severe nerve pain in my arms and legs. In addition to the severe joint pain (the worst is in my fingers, shoulder, knees and lower back) I've also developed neuro symptoms which have been a real challenge. My legs have become very weak (especially my left leg) and likes to "give out" on me when walking. Since that new development, I am now using a walker to get around. I've had to learn a lot of coping skills like HUMOR! Connecting with other Lyme patients through online groups - this has been a blessing for me and I've made some wonderful friends through this process, and when things get really bad, I work really hard to remember the things I CAN feel grateful about because let's face it. You can't feel depressed when you're feeling grateful about something. Anything! It's impossible! Try it! Hugs, Sandie
