Introduction The Bible is filled with stories about food. What kind of food? Only the best! Psalm 81:10 says “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.” In the New Testament, Jesus uses parables to teach people about his Father’s love for mankind. The setting is often around the dinner table, and Jesus is surrounded by sinners and saints alike. Me? I’m a storyteller, too. In “Food Parables,” I tell stories about my food adventures to teach simple ways to cook good food to love our neighbors. The best stories tug on our heart-strings. Sometimes, we laugh, sometimes, we cry. So, what’s my story? I grew up on a farm, surrounded by golden grain, green vegetables, the sweetest cantaloupe. And poop – lots of poop – because 20,000 head of cattle lived across the road. My family went to church every Sunday. Some of my stories come from being a single dad for 13 years, from catering outreach meals for 250 people, from volunteering in various soup kitchens, distributing food to the homeless, or going on missions trips to far-off lands. I met my wife at a dinner in which I cooked the dessert. It’s my hope that this blog motivates you into helping your fellow man.
