| Introduction | I am Dana Lurie, author/creator of the TOMGIRLZ. Tomgirlz is the term created and trademarked that means “be yourself” and “respect others for who they are.” It is the new label intended to break all labels. Afterall, a label is limiting and why should we be limited in life when we are so much more than that? Let’s save the labels for the soup cans! The Tomgirlz children's chapter books are humorous and fun to read, but the real messages of leadership, self-esteem, caring for others, anti-bullying, and much more are there for you to start a dialog with your family. I created the Tomgirlz as a platform to reach children, but along the way I discovered that I’ve truly come full circle. As I pursued my goal of encouraging children to be strong for themselves and respectful of others, I found that I myself learned many lessons from the children. Therefore, I am starting my new project, DON’T LABEL ME, as a Tomgirlz inspired self-help guide for moms. We are the girls who grew up with our own limiting labels and now it’s time to break free and be super role models for our daughters. |
