| Introduction | I report on Dutchess County government and regional politics for the Poughkeepsie Journal. I've never registered with a political party, and I probably wouldn't even if I wasn't working for the news industry, which frowns on reporters with party affiliations. But I have voted in a few primary elections. How so? Because I lived and worked several years in Wisconsin, where party primaries are open to nonpartisan voters. A world away from New York politics. |
