| Introduction | Why MacSwissRunner? Mac because I am Scottish; Swiss because I live in Switzerland; and Runner because I love running. I have been running for about 20 years. It all started in South Africa where I joined a woman's running group to keep fit. I remember being one of the last woman in my group on those run and walking up the hills. I progressed from there and completed my first Ultra in 1996 - Comrades Marathon 89km. I returned to the UK and wanted to do something more off road. I took part in a mountain marathon and came 2nd mixed couple. From this race I realised I loved being off road and in the mountains so progressed into Adventure racing. I took part in many Adventure races in the UK for about 3 years before moving to Switzerland. In Switzerland, Adventure racing was not as popular as in the UK, plus I had a daughter which left little time to train for the multisport of Adventure racing so I concentrated on Trail running and more recently Ultra trail running. |
