| Introduction | With a newly acquired studio art degree and a grant from the Thomas J. Watson Foundation, I am ready to explore and experience the world around me though the vehicle of art. As an artist, I will travel to study the different techniques of batik-making and in each country, paint my own designs on cloth. From all corners of my vast canvas will materialize the rich variety of cultures that I find. The meeting and merging of these different designs and patterns is how both my art and I will be transformed. |
