About me

Introduction I was born and raised in New York, but have spent over 59 years in California, the past 21 living in Lincoln with my wife, Barbara. I earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology/Counseling from UCLA. My 39-year career in higher education involved teaching, counseling, and administration. I retired in 2008 from my position of Vice Chancellor for Educational Planning and Services for the Yuba Community College District in Marysville, CA. In retirement, I enjoy writing poetry, short stories, and plays. My background in Psychology colors my writing, much of which centers on feelings, perceptions, and how people interact in our complex world. My poetry and short stories have placed in contests and have been published in newspapers and periodicals. I have written and directed five plays. As a member of the Poets Club of Lincoln, I have served as the Coordinator of the Voices of Lincoln Poetry Contest since 2009. It is now an international contest that has grown steadily, both in the number of poets entering and the number of poems submitted.
