| Introduction | My research during my MA in Art History explored the relationship between gender, ideology and culture with regard to how women artists have been written into art history narratives. Particular interests included self-portraiture by female artists in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and women’s sculptural practice in the twentieth and twenty-first century. The extent to which gender has, and continues to play, a role in the formation and application of ideas about art works, creativity and aesthetic value continues to underpin my research and writing.
