Introduction Margie Resto-Smith's goal as a traditional realist painter is to depict the figure through the beauty of color, and the effects of light and texture. Margie comes from a family background rich with creative influences. Her mother would design and sew dresses and curtains. Her father had his own construction company and would create and build things from scratch including classical guitars. Margie has been drawing since the age of five, however it was not until she studied under Timothy John-Luke Smith, that she found her true gifts. Timothy studied at the Arts Students League under George Passantino and at the National Academy School of Fine Arts under Harvey Dinnerstein. Margie has been elected a Signature Member of The Pastel Society of America. Her work appeared in over 20 regional and national juried exhibitions, including The Pastel Society of America, The Salmagundi Club, Allied Artists of America . Primarily a figurative painter, Margie creates paintings that portray a timeless elegance and serenity through the concentration of color, light and textures. Her favorite artists are Bouguereau and Alma Tadema among others.
