If you were a pirate, how would you avoid laughing when saying 'poop deck'?

Probably by being aware of the fact that it's called poop deck because of the bird shit and acknowledging the fact that somebody has to clean it...Still, as long as that person wasn't me, there might be a chance of a small snigger escaping from my lips.
