| Introduction | I was born Monika Clara Brejwo in Hann Munden Germany in May , 1949 in a DP camp , Larger Kurhessed-Kaserne. My father was Walerian Brejwo and my mother Katarzyna Mielnik Brejwo. They were from East Prussia Poland born during WWl and were displace during WWll, they fled Poland and were sent to Germany. They were first placed in a labor camp and then DP camps. I know little about my Mother's childhood ,she was left an orphan at the age of two. She had a very hard life , never had an education and never learned to read and write. I knew very little about my father's childhood as well, but I do know he had a sixth grade education. I have six brothers and one sister, two of my brothers have passed away. We immigrated to America to the lower East Side of New York , after four years we moved to a better neighborhood to Brooklyn New York. As a teen we moved to upstate New York , my parents thought it's a better place to live , fresh country air. I currently live in Arizona, I have two daughters and four grand children. |
