| Introduction | Morgan McDole grew up in Daytona Beach, FL, where the inspiration for this Zine came in 2008. The town's nickname amongst its youth culture was Dirtona. Upon returning from college in California, Morgan saw there was little encouragement or establishment for the creative youth of the town. Morgan, thirsty for an outlet, was gathering inspiration from the tired nature of the town, her creative yet frustrated friends, and her lifestyle amongst skateboarders. As a result, Dirt City Zine and Sk8 Dirt City Zine came into fruition, and has evolved into a living piece of art; born of a silent cry, from the desperate faces and starved youth of Daytona Beach. Morgan also graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA where she earned her degree in Media Communications. She now lives in Phoenix, AZ, with her fiance, where she is currently establishing a presence for the Zine among the Phoenix metro areas...the inspirations which will come from this culture are cultivating, and soon will be harvested for Dirt City Phoenix:) |
