| Introduction | I bravely chose to change careers three years ago after determining that I was not happy professionally. Knowing that it would take at least two years and countless hours of studying, I dove in head first and never looked back. I student taught second grade at a school in Metro Detroit. I was totally in love! After student teaching I did what most newly graduated teachers do- I substituted. Not exactly my dream job. I love the every day experience with the same students so I did a long-term assignment in downtown Detroit for a fifth grade classroom. Couldn't have been more different than my student teaching experience! I didn't go into that experience expecting roses and sunshine- but I definitely left that experience a stronger teacher and more prepared for my own classroom. I do not have a job for this fall and that really terrifies me. I will substitute again if I don't find my classroom. I'm married to Greg and we will celebrate our 15th anniversary this fall. We have four great children and live in a house that we love. Life is good. :) |
