About me

Location Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Introduction Well basically I hit the jackpot in the lottery of life. I live in a wonderful country, am married to a great bloke, have four young adult children who are all wonderful, have a well paid job and good health. Got NOTHING to complain about that's for sure!
Interests Military history, theatre, gardening, birdwatching (in a modest way), exploring new areas.
Favorite Movies Charlie and Boots; Australia the Movie - but you need to understand Australian history to really get the metaphors and symbolism throughout it..; The Dish; A town like Alice or the Shiralee both with Peter Finch; Joyeaux Noel; Stalag 17; Steel Magnolias. Just about anything Frank Capra. Heaps of other classics - including the old british titles. True Stories with a particular fondness for teacher stories eg To Sir With Love, or Lean on Me. Period drama well done. That means British usually eg Topsy Turvey or Jane Austen titles so long as the story has not been butchered. The Keira Knightley version of Pride and Prejudice was appalling, though I do like Bridget Jones rip off though it is. Mrs Doubtfire, Parenthood. I also love British crime TV. Midsomer, Wire in the Blood and so on.
Favorite Music Eclectic. Cat Stevens, Simon and Garfunkel, Carol King, John Williamson, Lazy Harry, The Pretenders, Handel, early Bee Gees pre SNF, certain AC/DC, classic songs.. I'm sure you get the drift.
Favorite Books The Tall Man by Chloe Hooper; Let Me Go by Helga Schnieder; Horrie the Wog Dog by Ion Idriess, My War by Brian Walpole, Fortune's Daughters by Elisabeth Kehoe, Gallipoli by Les Carlyon and various other military histories in similar style that he seems to have inspired, Delta Four by Gary McKay, The Good Women of China by Xinran, Various Deryni trilogies by Katherine Kurtz, Inspector Wexford titles by Ruth Rendell....and like the rest of the world the Millenium trilogy by Steig Larrson
