Your bow is not broken but you've run out of arrows. How can you fake being a bard?

From Wikipedia: "A bard was one of a caste of poets and scholars of medieval ... Ireland, Scotland and Wales." I would seek out my local mad scientist, and convince him that I was a musician by strumming on my bow. Then I would ask him to develop a time machine to send me back to the medieval times so that I could fake being a bard, because no one in the 21st century knows what one is.
