Introduction	Sister Lory Schaff was born in New Orleans and is a Catholic nun with the religious order the Congregation of St. Joseph. She is a graduate of Holy Name of Jesus Elementary and High School, a Jesuit school in New Orleans. Sr. Lory attended Loyola University in New Orleans, graduated with a B.S. from Webster College in St. Louis, Missouri (chemistry and mathematics), graduated from the University of Notre Dame (Fighting Irish!) with an M.S. in biology, attended the summer program in philosophy of science at St. John's University in New York, and has an M.A. from the Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. She has taught science and math for many years in high schools in Louisiana, Missouri, and Kansas; and she taught at the St. Paul- Adult Learning Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for many years. Sr. Lory has been involved with Justice Education, welfare reform, and public housing reform. She was a co-founder and director of Hope House, a program which helps the needy in New Orleans.
