Introduction	After a career as a middle manager and an early retirement that included a lot of blue-water sailboat cruising, mostly in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Mediterranean, I finally am making time for art. Over a lifetime, I found small time-windows to keep art alive in writing, photography, a touch of oil painting and pastel. Over the past eight years, I have focused on watercolor. An active lifestyle still predominates, but I paint regularly and enjoy showing and selling. It has been a struggle to reach beyond the simplicity and illusive precision of snapping a photograph. But when the essence of a subject does emerge on the paper, it is a joyful experience. And then joy again when someone else wants to look at it. Enough reason to keep painting.
