IntroductionRoland Nozomu Kelts is an award-winning Japanese American author, journalist, media scholar and editor inhabiting the spaces where Japanese and American cultures meet. His acclaimed book JAPANAMERICA is considered the ultimate guide to Japan's pop culture juggernaut — required reading for global producers, artists and academics. He is a columnist for The Japan Times and a professor at Waseda University in Tokyo. Kelts has taught at The University of Tokyo, New York University, Columbia University, Sophia University and Harvard University. He has also won several awards including a Nieman Fellowship in Journalism at Harvard and a Jacob K. Javits Award in Writing at Columbia.
