Introduction A few months after I began working at the public library in 2001 (I worked at a small college library previously), I was on board to start a mystery book club with another librarian. The library had an existing adult book club for fiction and/or non-fiction books. My fellow librarian, however, had to relocate and I started the club on my own with the goal of being open to read any good mysteries on our library shelves. In time, I often looked at Edgar Award contestants for options and well-reviewed titles in professional library journals on our library shelves. Overall, the plan is to get people in and talking about books. And this is great fun for me as I’ve enjoyed reading mysteries over the years. In fact, my photo—taken by Chris Thompson--is inspired by writer’s photos on their book jacket. And of course, as you see, I went for a "man of mystery" look.
