| Introduction | I am a senior associate at the Institute for Educational Inquiry in Seattle. I have been a teacher, principal, assistant and deputy superintendent, and university lecturer and instructor. I have worked with the National Network for Educational Renewal since its creation and served as its first Executive Director. The author of Effective Professional Development Schools, and a co-author of Kids and School Reform, I have also written high school textbooks for speech and English classes and written numerous chapters and articles on a wide-range of educational topics. Building on a prior background in broadcasting, I have helped lead a series of programs designed to help journalists and educators understand each other and the critical role that old and new media play in a democratic society. |
