Introduction I am a painter, working in oils, and since January, 2010,a fledgling writer. My usual painting subject is still life, but I venture into landscapes and portraits now and then. Right now, I am interested in enlarging ordinary objects, such as one bloom on a plant or part of a basket of eggplants, and offering the viewer a new way to look at it. I want people to notice the beauty to be found in common things they might otherwise overlook. I write for a similar reason. First,it is a way of sorting out my own feelings and thoughts about... everyday life. Sometimes, though, I venture into subjects like religion and politics...common enough topics, also, but touchy subjects, for some. Just as my paintings represent what I see and how I see it, my writing is an exploration of my thoughts about life in general, and sometimes, what I believe and why. I don't propose that my viewpoints, either in paintings or in my written words are the only way to see the world. My hope is that a veiwer/reader might deem them worth considering, if only for a moment. My paintings are found on blogspot at nancylightjohnson my writing is posted at: To Love a Mockingbird. I love to receive comments.
