| Introduction | I've had a long history with the church, dating back to when I told the elders at my Presbyterian church I could explain "the basics" so I could join. More recently, I was a Jehovah's Witness from 1999-2004. My spiritual journey after leaving the organization is what prompted this blog, although it's been a long time coming since then. I hope to help other Witnesses who left (or, like me, were disfellowshipped) and don't quite know where they fit into today's spiritual landscape or even if they want to. I do not seek to bash or otherwise denigrate Witnesses and I hold no grudge against them whatsoever; Without being a Witness I wouldn't have the Bible knowledge I have. I just believe that the Watchtower Society has put up barriers between man and God that shouldn't be there. My hope is to help current and former Witnesses see that, and know that the only mediator between man and God is Jesus, not "Jesus and...". |
