| Introduction | Solynn oversees the Alliance for Education’s community engagement effort in Seattle. In his role, he works closely with the Community Engagement Task Force to bridge the work of Seattle Public Schools and the voices of the population it serves. Task Force members include representatives of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, city, county, higher education, parents, and Seattle Public Schools staff. Before joining the Alliance, Solynn implemented youth development, educational advocacy, and outreach programs in the public sector. He has served in a variety of positions including youth development director with the YMCA of Greater Seattle, HERO Advisor with the College Success Foundation, and manager of the NELA Center for Student Success. His labor and partnerships have affected students, families, educators, faith-based communities, and numerous youth service organizations throughout King, Pierce, and Yakima Counties. Solynn holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Washington and is a master’s degree candidate in Education at Seattle University. He attended Seattle Public Schools during his upbringing and graduated from Garfield High School. |
