Introduction	Welcome to my blog. I'm Melinda. And for some ridiculous reason I'm feeling pressured to say something profound in the 1,200 characters Blogger allots for introductions. According to the Internet powers that be, the average length of an English word is five-point-something letters. If I don't count spaces and punctuation, then 1,200 characters translate into 240 five-letter words. I'm panicking. I can't properly introduce myself in 240 words. That kind of pressure means an automatic cranial charley horse. But I'm no quitter. So here are some five-letter words about me (please excuse the nonparallel structure): woman, wifey (yes, it's a word), mommy (two awesome kiddos), Jesus lover (that should get double points), buddy, newsy (AP to be exact), artsy, tutor (actually an adjunct journalism prof., but ok), write (Yes, I cheated--it needs an "r"), blogs, reads, edits, can-do (please forgive the innocent hyphen), tacos, pasta, cocoa (we all know that translates chocoholic), Bible, prays, music, tilth (I try to grow things--usually plants & kiddos), sunny, merry, gutsy, stout (see “chocoholic”), curvy and silly. Well, that wasn’t so bad. And I still have 169 characters to spare.
