| Introduction | After 51 years I still consider myself the little island girl. There are many advantages to growing up on a little island in the North Atlantic. The greatest being the total freedom I felt to explore my world. First of all it was safe and and although the island only measured 17 miles by 2 miles I thought is was massive and as a child I spent my days beach combing, hill climbing and my personal favourite; berry picking. I want to share many of my most treasured memories of those days but also talk about my life experiences once I left the shelter of the island. |
