| Introduction | A nature enthusiast, native plant gardener, and emeritus professor of botany, I write mainly about my experiences in the Appalachian Mountains. My two books are: Wildflowers and Plant Communities of the Southern Appalachian Mountains and Piedmont, 2011; Waterfalls and Wildflowers in the Southern Appalachians: 30 Great Hikes, 2015 (published by the University of North Carolina Press). I currently divide my time between Asheville, North Carolina (in the southern Appalachians), and the Gaspe Peninsula (in the northern Appalachians). |
