Lionesses have no manes. How do they know when they've grown up?

Much like the facial hair on human men, the mane on the lion lets the lionesses know he is grown up incase his actions are lacking maturity. It is sad that male lions need to grow a large ring of hair around their heads to let them know that they are a grown-up. Since the lioness is female maturation is much more obvious. A lioness matures at 3 or 4 years of age while lions take 5 to 6 years.
