| Introduction | I hold a BSRN, graduating with honors in 1979 from UOHC. I spent a winter volunteering in Nepal, returning to Portland where I practiced as a critical care nurse in Portland for 10yrs. In 1982 I returned to my childhood passion of riding horses , trained with Estelle Thompson( Keating), and rode in monthly clinics with Alexsandra Howard, Dietrich von Hopffgarten, Hilda Gurney and Carol Lavell. Portland was a very tiny pond so we traveled up and down the coast to educational forums and to compete. I was successful with all of the horses that I had the luck to ride.....winning lots of state, regional and even national awards. Yep, I laugh now, but in those days this qualified me to become a “trainer”! I was very lucky indeed to have gotten my start so early. |
