| Introduction | Well I'm 43 happily married with 4 children and until July 2004 I was a fit and active individual with a good job. It was in that month of July that I contracted an infection which attacked my spinal cord and left me using a wheelchair to get around. Fortunately my brain still works to some degree and I tend to say what I think which isn't always PC. Now ask me if I care ? In 1983 I joined the Coldstream Guards which was the most challenging and yet rewarding time of my life. I look now and see the news clips of the various theatres taking place overseas that our troops are participating in with upmost admiration for those individuals who signed on the dotted line. Maybe the politicians who make these decisions to send our troops to these theatres will grow a spine and ensure that those who return home are cared for with the same vigour displayed in the various press conferences debating the rationale of being involved in such events. |
