| Introduction | Good evening, gentlemen. Please, be seated. Cognac? Very well. As I am sure you are no doubt aware, I have brought you here this evening for one explicit purpose--to listen to my nattering on, as I narrate my quest towards a more lucid understanding of the complex city I have lived and breathed in--yet hardly experienced--for the last 7 years of my life. To be succinct: 1) There are easily over a hundred watering holes in Madison, each with its own colour, shape and texture. Despite the fact that I have easily spent thousands of hard-earned student loan dollars in such establishments, I am shamed to admit that I have been to approximately ten of them. 2) There are easily over a hundred active musical endeavors in Madison, each with their own flavour, style and sass. I have seen approximately ten of them, and that's counting the two in which I had the distinction of being a participant. Among other things, I intend to remedy these abysmal statistics, and I'm going to tell you all about it. |
