| Introduction | Gunnar and I have been birding together for 40 some years. Every year we met the warbler migration in the spring. Our home is in an Oak woods surrouned by a lake so now the warblers come to us. Tradition was that We would go birding on or near May 15th, Gunnar's birthday. When he was a kid and had mumps on his BDay, a huge flock of warblers came to his window. He was hooked then and got his first Golden Book of Birds for Kids. So began our journey into ornithology. As a 3rd grade teacher was lucky enough to teach birds every spring. It was the best! I hope many of my students will become life long birders. Now that we are both retired, we came to LRGV to bird. We have met wonderful birders who are much more knowledgeable but we all share our enthusiasm for the birds. Then I was enlighten to the more magical creatures - butterflies. So here I am blogging about birds and butterflies. I just got my Cannon PowerShot SX50 on February 22. Before that I used my cell to record my butterflies. Hopefully I will improve my photography skills, but I am having fun. |
